Bullets to face Silver in FCB 30 Years Cup

FCB Nyasa Bullets will on June 29 play against Silver Strikers at the Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe as part of celebrating the 30th anniversary of the People’s Team sponsors First Capital Bank (FCB).

Speaking during a press briefing at Bullets offices in Blantyre on Wednesday, FCB head of marketing and communications Twikale Chirwa said they have chosen to engage Lilongwe-based Silver in the match for being the TNM Super League champions.

“We would like this match to be very competitive and exciting. We believe Silver will help us celebrate the anniversary in style,” he said.

Chirwa added that 100 lucky individuals in various promotions ahead of the match will win limited edition replicas of the jersey Bullets will use in the game.

He said proceeds from the match will go towards supporting youth football development through donations to the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) Luwinga Inclusive Football Academy in Mzuzu.

“As you know, FCB also sponsors the Under-20 youth football national league and we would like to use this match as a platform for promoting youth football,” he said.

Bullets acting chief executive officer Albert Chigoga said they are excited to be part of the bank’s anniversary celebration, which began with a 13-kilometre fun walk in Blantyre last weekend.

“We really feel proud to celebrate the 30 years of our sponsor’s existence and we are more than ready to make the anniversary match a memorable event,” he said.

Chigoga said the match has been licensed by FAM, who will announce gate charges and other logistics ahead of the game.

Bullets captain Lloyd ‘Banega’ Aaron has since urged soccer lovers to patronise the match in their large numbers.
